I'd like to avoid geographic locations altogether, and do an ABA-NBA split. This is what we discussed prior to starting the league. i still think this is the way to go.

Very different - i like it. Kots is just trying to get out of the Wild Wild West over here What do you mean? I would have tried to move East if that was the case. I am actually pitching for the renaming of conferences/divisions to former greats of the NBA. I have no idea which teams Miege/Rich are proposing for the NBA/ABA conferences and who will/should be where.

I was just accusing you of wanting to escape the West because it looks pretty competitive And you only stole Rose from me but at a risky contract for those knees!

Here's my thought...
NBA/ABA split
Now, we're going to take some liberties here because we don't have a perfect 10 and 10 of each, but here's how it would break down:
NBA WEST Chicago Phoenix Portland Sacramento Seattle
EAST Atlanta Cleveland Orlando Toronto Washington
ABA WEST Golden State (ABA roots - Oakland Oaks) Houston Rockets (ABA roots - Houston Mavericks; became well-known ABA teams Carolina Cougars and St. Louis Spirits) Los Angeles Clippers (ABA roots - Los Angeles Stars) San Antonio Spurs (ABA roots - San Antonio Spurs) Utah Swarm (ABA roots - Utah Stars)
EAST Indiana Pacers (ABA roots - Indiana Pacers) Memphis Grizzlies (ABA roots - Memphis Tams) Miami Heat (ABA roots - Miami Floridians) Minnesota Timberwolves (ABA roots - Minnesota Muskies) New Orleans Jazz (ABA roots - New Orleans Buccaneers)
As you can see, some liberties were taken with the ABA teams. Just because there were ABA "roots" doesn't mean that ABA team became the NBA team. Just that the city once hosted an ABA team.

I'd rather we just randomize it to make it fair as possible. NBA looks less competitive than the ABA at first glance

I'd prefer to go geographical, its the least biased approach since you don't have to decide what's fair and what isn't

ABA/NBA is what we originally thought and I still think it's the best choice.

Looks good & there will always be stronger divisions than others regardless of how it's set up. If your teams good enough throughout the season then you should make the finals whatever conference you are in. Maybe set up a poll to vote on the subject, then we can lock it in!

Do we not play teams from each conference anyway?
Whether I like it or not - I do!!
