An idea;
What about aligning them in terms of original picks?
Eg; Franchises selected 1-5 = Division A, 6-10 = Division B, 11-15 = Division C, 16-20 = Division D
You would think the best teams/players would be originally selected early.
And "A" could be West "B" = East, "C" = West and "D" = East again
And another thought name the divisions after great past players.
Eg; Bill Russell Division, Oscar Robertson Division, etc
We could poll vote on a number of great past players - 4 picks each and the highest 4 players - the divisions are named after.
What do you think chaps??

I think we are pretty open to ideas! That's the point of this league -- owners should have a voice.

As we are only 2 spots from being filled up.
Have any decisions been made on how this will be determined?

Once the draft and FA is over, we will discuss this.

We won't set divisions now as we would like to make things as balanced as possible. Right now, we can't possibly have any idea who the best teams are.

Provided that no one relocates, right now we have 12 West teams and 8 East teams.
A simple solution could be to send New Orleans and Memphis east.

I agree that the 2 eastern most teams from the Western Conference should be moved to the Eastern Conference. One team would also need to then be moved from the Pacific Division to the Midwest Division. Utah would be the best to move over since it keeps the rest of the Pacific intact and Portland is closer to the coast. This type of realignment would be much less subjective since it isn't based on the perceived talent level of each team

Now that FA is coming to and end thought I would raise this again.
Proposal was to call the conferences Bill Russell Conference and Oscar Robertson Conference. Or after whoever the league thinks the greatest players are.
What about naming the conferences after Red Auerback and Phil Jackson.
The divisions can then be named after great players like maybe Russell, O, Wilt or Jordan.
The teams can still be listed within the East & West.
Dunno - just throwing it out there.
What are other views on this idea?

I'd like to avoid geographic locations altogether, and do an ABA-NBA split.
