Most interesting pickups to me have been Exum and Embiid. Getting em for cheap and putting them on IR for a year in the hopes they come back strong.

Exum makes sense. I wouldn't touch Embiid with a 10-foot pole. Sure there's a big time reward if he comes back. But we're going on two years with that same foot. In a league like this, filling up a roster spot with dead space is killer.

For future reference, because I'm sure this question will be asked:
Every now and then, a situation like what happened with JR Smith will slip through the cracks. While it is not in the rules that an owner must speak up, we do ask that if you see that the leading bid is invalid, for whatever reason, that you say something. More of a sportsmanship deal than anything.

Another dynamic I didn't think about til now is saving some cap space for the season in case a free agent here starts producing (a la Jeremy Lin a few years ago) or a starter somewhere gets injured and u pickup his backup. Some of the teams here with more cap space (portland?) will be able to do that
