For this first year, we will just break up the league geographically. At the end of the season, we'll reevaluate everything and determine if things need to be adjusted to make the league more competitive.
Sound good?

It will swing around over time.

It will swing around over time. Maybe we do, maybe we don't. I think it also will depend on how many owners end up being active.

So we have two options.
OPTION 1: We'll have 4 divisions of 5 teams, but no conferences. Everyone plays their division opponent two times, then they play everyone in two other divisions once. We have 12 playoff teams, and the 4 division winners will get byes. Playoff bracket will not be split into two sides. Here are our 4 divisions:
PACIFIC Hawthorn Los Angeles Seattle Utah Vancouver
SOUTH Charlotte Dallas Houston Miami San Antonio
GREAT LAKES Chicago Cincinnati Cleveland Indiana Minnesota
NORTHEAST Boston New York Philadelphia Toronto Washington
OPTION 2: We keep conferences. No divisions. 2 conferences of 10 teams. Everyone plays their conference opponents twice, for an 18-game schedule, and doesn't play a team from the opposing conference. 12 playoff teams, 2 best teams in each conference get a bye. Playoffs will be split into an East bracket and West bracket. Here are the 2 divisions:
EAST Boston Charlotte Cincinnati Cleveland Indiana Miami New York Philadelphia Toronto Washington
WEST Chicago Dallas Hawthorn Houston Los Angeles Minnesota San Antonio Seattle Utah Vancouver
Which one do you guys prefer?

I also want to note that if anyone wants to move their team, please do so before trading opens. We will adjust divisions based on locations of teams, so I don't want to have to change things after the season starts.

2 conferences is most fair, unless yku take best record regarless of division Yeah, after the four division winners, the remaining 8 seeds will be based solely on record.

Divisions is cool but ESPN doesnt support any of this. Need a better host site to not rely so much on the forum and spreadsheets

Divisions are the way to go!! been thinking about this some more. I actually now prefer the option 2 - conference model. Wait until playoffs to see which conference is the best
