Why Houston?
I couldn't pass on a player of James Harden's caliber. Players like him are very hard to come by, and at only 26 years-old we're getting him in his prime. I'm too excited for the challenge to surround him with the talent to win a championship for this city.
We also really like Trevor Ariza. We believe he's on a fair contract for being a Top-30 fantasy player last season ($8.2 until 2018). We considered Ty Lawson, but between his off-the-court issues and decreased role now that he's left Denver, $12m / year was just too risky.
Expansion Draft
Free AgencyWe made it a priority to preserve the cap-space necessary to improve the team through free agency. With $24.6m to work with, we believe we will be able to continue to add quality players and depth.

Expansion Draft
- Round 1 - Carmelo Anthony: We did not expect a player of Carmelo's caliber to fall to the 13th pick. His max contract likely scared teams off, but not us; in a 20-team league, we will gladly pay for a Top-10 player and arguably the best scorer in the league on any given night.
- Round 2 - Myles Turner: Man, are we excited about this kid. An athletic 7-footer who can do just about everything. He has the potential to grow into a Top-3 center, and quickly since he'll be seeing minutes right off the bat his rookie season.
- Round 3 - Michael Carter-Williams: Considering we almost took MCW with our 2nd-rounder, here was another case of talent falling farther than we think it should have. He's proven he can fill up the stat sheet. And in just a half season under Jason Kidd, MCW saw his FG% go up and TO's go down. We love this trend.
- Round 4 - Dennis Schröder: We really, REALLY like Schroder. We anticipate his minutes to increase this season and next. He truly has the skill-set to develop into an All-Star; he just needs the minutes.
