Currently, we are slated to have 2 rounds of the rookie draft (starting next year). We only have 20 teams, therefore, there will be 40 picks.
That means that the first 30 picks of the draft could be real life NBA first round selections, but the bottom 10 would ultimately have to be players who were taken in the second round in real life.
Miege and I have discussed just having one round for simplicity and fairness, but we would like all of you to chime in as well.
When we initially designed the rules, we didn't think much about having 2 rounds, but now, I personally don't like it. I feel like you get screwed if you're at the end of the second round, because you are going to relegated to choosing real life second round picks without guaranteed contracts.
On the flipside, an argument could be made that the way that FA is structured and only having 2 re-signs, I could see a case being made for having a second round.
We could keep two rounds, get rid of the second round, make second round picks (in our league) non-guaranteed deals, etc. There are different ways to do this.
I, however, would rather just have one round and call it a day.
What do you all think?

1 round.
Especially with the roster max of 12.

I say 2 rounds with contracts for the second round unguaranteed just like the NBA

Starting 2017 season, expand bench to 5, increase cap, and keep it 2 rds with an unguaranteed

I say 2 rounds with contracts for the second round unguaranteed just like the NBA I like this option most. That 2nd Round Pick ends up being an extra trade chip so no reason to get rid of them. Sent from The Office of the Phoenix Suns General Manager

There are core guidelines that really cannot change. The cap and roster size are two of those guidelines.

I'm fine either way, though I do like the idea of making all the 2nd round picks unguaranteed.
