By a show of hands, was ANYONE going to take Brook Lopez other than CV? That was the biggest shocker in my opinion. Guy is making $20 mil for a while after coming off several foot injuries and a benching. I would have taken my chances with a guy like that making it to free agency. And I understand the argument of drafting for talent, but you've got to leave yourself some wiggle room. By the way, I'm not looking to fill half my starting lineup either. Russ-KCP-KD-Horford-Dieng is not a bad starting five I like the rest of your starting lineup, but KCP could hold your team back. Korver would've been a better choice if you were looking for a 3 and D sort of player, since he also brings out of this world percentagesAgreed. My concern with Korver was his injuries. How's he going to look coming off the shoulder and ankle surgery AND how will he handle the increased pressure with Carroll not around to take some of the slack?

By the way, it's funny people feel this way. Coming away from this draft, I felt like Dieng was by far my worst pick.

Alot of guys were left on the board because they were overpaid. There are more than a handful of players left on the board worth having, but not for the price tag they're earning in the real world. Those with cap space left over will have the best shot at these guys. And maybe some of them still get overpaid, but they'll end up being cheaper than their real world price. I think that's a distinction worth recognizing. But unless you plan on starting role players like Winslow and Hollis-Jefferson right away, which doesn't sound like a winning strategy to me, you've put a lot of faith into free agency. Sure these players may end up slightly cheaper, but you'll have a lot of competition to sign them. There's no guarantee that you end up with enough talent to fill your lineup. As the Mavs have proven year after year, money doesn't guarantee big free agents I hear that. Definitely. But I'd rather have rookies on their 4 year rookie deals, than the same prospects in free agency who will probably go for 2-3 million more, on only 3 year deals. So yes, I took a risk in one way because these guys haven't proven anything in the NBA yet. But I feel more comfortable knowing I can probably get 2-3 solid free agents rather than 1 with the space I have left. And I have my long shot prospects for longer and way cheaper than if I had waited.

I wouldn't worry about the loss of Carroll, since it shouldn't bring any extra defensive attention since he isn't a ball handler, it's not like defenders really faze Korver anyway. If anything, Carroll's absense should help the majority of his counting stats, without really hurting percentages

Everyone needs to settle down. No-one really knows who had a great draft until the season proper starts. Right now it is all speculation and that is great - everyone is being defensive about their picks/strategy.
We all did what we think was right.
Bring on the season proper!!

If anything, Carroll's absense should help the majority of his counting stats, without really hurting percentagesI'm not so sure about this. Sure, teams already pay a ton of attention to Korver. But if the Hawks go with someone like Bazemore, I think you see teams almost outright ignore him on the perimeter and shift even more attention to Korver. His FT % probably won't go down, but I can see that FG % taking a dip. And with more attention, the threes too. I went with KCP over him because I liked that KCP got me more steals, was cheaper, and still had potential. I don't Korver can get any better than what he did last year. And KCP doesn't shoot enough free throws to really hurt me, not with KD and Russ on my team. Really, the gamble here is Durant. If he comes back fine, then I'll be ok. If not, I won't. KCP isn't really going to have a major role in a potential downfall. He can really only play a role in a dominant team.

My opinion?
Best drafts: Houston, New Orleans, Golden State, Phoenix

Yeah Burks was a big call - plenty of stats there for him if healthy. Is there anyone else on the Dallas roster?

I think Dirk is at his best when he has legitimate weapons around him. He's longer playing at a level where he can take on double and triple teams.

I've been holding this back since the start of the draft so I didn't influence any picks, which I figure everyone else did as well.

This league would be boring if everyone thought the exact same way.
